U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack visited the Capital region this week and took the opportunity to highlight economic opportunities for rural America.

Country Mill Farms in Charlotte.
More than 300 people gathered Monday in a pole barn to hear Vilsack talk about government support for agriculture and to express their concerns. The visit was part of the Obama administration's nationwide "rural tour" that kicked off this month.
Country Mill Farms owner Steve Tennes was grateful federal officials stopped to talk to farmers in rural mid-Michigan.
"Farming is important, it's the second largest industry in the state, but sometimes it gets forgotten," Tennes said.
