Michigan State University’s (MSU) Office of Financial Aid received nearly $350,000 to increase student participation in a federal work-study program.

Ian Gray, vice president for research and graduate studies, said most MSU researchers use grants from government and private sources to support their research.
"These research projects often require hiring undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral students to assist with laboratory or field work, various types of data collection and analysis or record-keeping," he said. "Not only does research activity provide jobs for these students, but it also provides world-class learning experiences for students working side-by-side with top researchers.
"The federal stimulus funds make more of these opportunities available."
