Owner Adds Rooftop Food Garden and Solar Panels to East Lansing Art Gallery

Saper Galleries and Custom Framing owner Roy Saper, and his son, Jay, created a 1,500 square foot garden on the gallery roof to produce food for the Greater Lansing Food Bank.

According to excerpts from the article:

Saper and his 18-year-old son, Jay, started the rooftop container garden this spring as an experiment to see if they could make better use of the 1,500-square-foot flat roof.

They also set up a few homemade solar panels to see if they would work on a small scale before investing in a larger project.

Saper plans to donate the produce he harvests from his roof to the Greater Lansing Food Bank. Saper is a member of the food bank's board of directors.

"It's showing that you can make a difference in a small way," he said.
