How is Old Town going to keep going in Michigan's economic climate?
Well, we’re holding our own. I don’t remember who said this, but I think it’s just a great quote: “We’ve heard that there’s a recession taking place and we’ve decided not to take part.” That’s what we’re doing.
How did you score the IKEA makeover for Old Town?
In a three-minute video we had to tell the past of Old Town, what it’s like right now and what we see for the future, and showcase the 10 businesses we would like to have get the makeover. We didn’t think we had a chance of winning it. We just figured we’d make a nice, fun promotional video. Once we found out we were a finalist, we said, “Oh, we are winning this contest! It is on.” We did everything and anything we could just to get the word out.
