NuUnion Credit Union is seeking local and state tax
incentives to rehab a vacant hotel on 6501
S. Cedar St. Rehabbing the 5,000 square foot space
would cost an estimated $3.4 million.
According to excerpts from the article:
"We knew we needed some higher visibility, so that
was one of the selling points of the property," NuUnion spokeswoman
Danielle Brehmer said. "And it's a main thoroughfare, so you get easy
access from Cedar (Street) and Pennsylvania
(Avenue)."
Plans call for the credit union to relocate its nearby
branch at 438 E. Edgewood Blvd.
to the site, Brehmer said. The 3,500-square-foot office employs 14.
The new branch would include a drive-up lane and have
more space for additional employees and services, Brehmer said. Planning on the
project is ongoing, although some site work could start this year if the
incentives come through.
