East Lansing Council Gives Green Light to New Five-Story Hotel

The East Lansing City Council has approved the site plan for the proposed five-story downtown Marriott Residence Inn.

According to excerpts from the article:

The City Council on Tuesday voted 4-1 to approve a site plan, a special use permit and the conditional rezoning of 0.55 acres at 310 W. Grand River Ave. to allow East Lansing developer Abood Properties Inc. to build the five-story hotel.

The property's former zoning would have allowed a four-story hotel.

Council member Roger Peters voted against the measure, saying a five-story hotel was not consistent with the city's plan.

The 88-room Residence Inn will include a pool, fitness center and 3,250 square feet of restaurant or retail space.
