East Lansing City Council Approves State Grant Agreement for IBM Jobs

The East Lansing City Council approved a grant agreement that could result in $2,600 in state funds for each job created by IBM at its new East Lansing facility.

According to excerpts from the article:

“It was an important part of IBM’s decision to locate at MSU,” East Lansing City Manager Ted Staton said.

In order to receive the grant money, IBM will be required to provide proof of job creation through its human resources department. The company could earn up to $2,600 per new job created.

“The goal here with IBM is to create this as a cumulative job growth,” said Tim Dempsey, East Lansing’s director of Planning and Community Development.
