Local businessman and owner of the Wild Goose Inn bed and breakfast, Al Bay, wants the City of Lansing to build the proposed Capital Area District Library and Impression 5 Science Center in the Capitol Complex.
According to excerpts from the article:
In August, voters will be asked to approve taxing themselves to finance a $90 million plan to build five new libraries and improve eight other libraries within its countywide system. One of those new buildings would replace the library at the corner of Kalamazoo Street and Capitol in downtown Lansing.
The ballot will not include specific sites for the new buildings, said Margaret Bossenbery, CADL board chair. Williamston, Holt, Meridian Township, Mason and Lansing will be expected to provide the land for the new buildings. Lansing has not yet determined where that will be.
“We’ve heard nothing from the mayor or the City Council” regarding a Lansing site, Bossenbery said. “It would be good if we knew.”
