$45 Million Downtown Police Headquarters Ahead of Schedule

Construction of the new $45 million Michigan State Police headquarters in Downtown Lansing is well ahead of schedule, with exterior work expected to be completed this winter.

Partnering with Gary Granger, Ferguson said he hopes that the building’s exterior will be complete by the winter. Then interior work such as electrical tasks, flooring and carpeting will get underway.

For now, walls for the five-floor structure encompassing approximately 150,000 square feet continue to go up. And, around noon today, workers with hard hats could be seen reviewing completed work from inside the building.

"You’re seeing the shell right now,” Developer Joel Ferguson said. "The $39 million project at the corner of Grand Avenue and Kalamazoo Street is expected to create 540 construction jobs."
