The $39 million new State Police headquarters in Downtown Lansing is expected to open a month ahead of schedule.

Joel Ferguson, one of the developers, said work is continuing so well that he expected to finish the project a month or so ahead of schedule.
Last fall, developers anticipated having the five-story building at Grand Avenue and Kalamazoo Street ready by this fall.
"We're very happy," Ferguson said of the progress. "We're working hard."
The $39 million project has created more than 500 construction jobs. The approximately 150,000 square-foot building will serve as the new headquarters for the state police; the existing headquarters is in East Lansing.
