Lansing Community College (LCC) is working with the City of Portland and Ionia County to bring LCC classes to Portland.
According to excerpts from the article:
Seventeen people from the Portland and Ionia County community were on hand to hear LCC officials discuss the LCC Share Program and how it could bring LCC classes to the Portland community.
“I'm just excited about having an LCC presence here,” City of Portland Mayor James Barnes said.
The share program is aimed at giving LCC students experience while assisting local municipalities with economic development. It will utilize geographic information systems to look at the addition of an evening LCC campus to the Portland area. The program will allow students to map sites for a campus, impact to the community, travel costs and student interest of putting a campus in Portland.
“We are delighted to partner with (Portland) and hope our students and technology are most beneficial,” LCC President Brent Knight said.
