This funding will also help to increase overall student awareness of career opportunities in Agriculture and Natural Resources. The specific goals of the "Cultivating Career Opportunities in Agriscience and Natural Resources" grant are:

  • To provide students with an innovative agriscience technical career education program
  • To increase student awareness of and enrollment in agriscience and natural resources career opportunity courses

Senator Debbie Stabenow and Congressman Mike Rogers sent letters of support for the two-year grant that runs through June 30, 2009.

The Agriscience and Natural Resources program is a partnership between the Webberville Community Schools, Michigan State, and Ingham ISD. These partners have created a program where area high school juniors and seniors have the opportunity to learn and gain hands-on experiences in the most popular fields of agriscience and natural resources including horticulture, turf grass management, veterinarian science, environmental science and animal care. Students are learning in state-of-the-art facilities, including a science lab, 100-acre land lab, wetland, greenhouse, animal facility and computer lab.
