Simon Takes Over as CEO for $13.7 Billion Auto-Owners Insurance

Ronald Simonis taking over as the new CEO of Auto-Owners Insurance Group, a Lansing-based company with $13.7 billion in assets.

The incoming CEO said the company remains committed to responsible, organic growth despite increasing competition from national companies looking to poach customers.

"They're willing to do just about anything to do it," Simon said. "We'll keep the ship pointed in the right direction to make sure we're writing good quality business for our independent agents."

The DeWitt resident said the company also is "100 percent committed" to the network of more than 6,000 independent agencies and 35,000 agents in Auto-Owners' 25-state operation.

Auto-Owners is one of the area's largest employers and was No. 465 on Fortune magazine's 2008 Fortune 500 list. It has about 3,600 employees in offices across the country.
