Tech savvy Grand Ledge High School teacher Matinga Ragatz was a runner-up for the
Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning 2009 Outstanding Technology-Using Educator Award.
According to excerpts from the article:
Ragatz in November represented the United States at the Worldwide Innovative Teachers Technology Forum in Hong Kong. While in Hong Kong, Ragatz used technology to teach her students by interacting with them online through a data projector and a program called Blackboard, district officials said.
She used the school's laptop lab to meet with her students online and give them access to prerecorded lectures via
YouTube.com and prerecorded PowerPoint presentations. She helped them learn about Hong Kong through video lectures and
Google Earth.
Students also could post articles and comments on Ragatz's daily blog entries.
