50 years, 50 stories: Story #10 Molly Dobson

Supporting our Community for 60+ Years

Always willing to share her time and gifts, Molly Dobson has supported a long and diverse list of local nonprofits for more than 60 years. Her generosity and leadership have helped launch many beloved local institutions including the Center for the Education of Women (CEW) at the University of Michigan, the Neutral Zone, the Washtenaw Community College Foundation, the Ann Arbor City Club and the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation.

Molly recalls, "I have never forgotten my father’s question to me when I turned 21, about how did I plan to serve my country. Part of my answer was to become engaged in supporting Ann Arbor, its citizens and its needs." She shares: "I have been involved with the Community Foundation since its beginnings dating back to 1963, and its remarkable growth has warmed my heart. That’s because AAACF’s mission is so appealing. They raise endowment funds and award grants to support a broad range of community needs. When you establish an endowed fund, you enrich your community by effecting positive change. Not just for today and tomorrow, but For good. For ever -  no matter what changes the future may bring."

One of the many ways the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation supports all that is good in our community.
