The Shadow Art Fair

Crafters and artisans take over the Corner Brewery in Ypsi for the Shadow Art Fair — a decidedly non-church-basement take on an arts and craft show. Handmade brew, groovy music and cooler-than-thou crafts were all on display and on sale.

It's all part of the city's growing DIY culture, turning the former automotive community into the hip Brooklyn to Ann Arbor's starch-shirted Manhattan.

The event brings out dozens of artist/vendors and all sorts of other handmade goodness. The next installment is in December 2008. Don't miss it. (Here's their
web site.)

If you'd like a wee sample of what we're talking about, Metromode video producer
Tom Hendrickson soaked in the vibe and the suds at a previous installment of the event.

The music is courtesy of the wonderful local band Zoos of Berlin. Do check them out on their MySpace page, and do not miss a live show: http://www.myspace.com/zoosofberlin
