November things to do: Theater, shopping, music, food drives, crafts, Thanksgiving, and turkey trots

There’s a crispness in the air, so make sure you have a jacket or sweater handy. That’s because there are fun things to do all month long, with events scheduled for indoors, outdoors, and all around West Michigan. Are you into nature? Check out the hikes, bird walks, and StoryWalk events. Love fine art? There are large-scale installations, exhibitions, and jewelry collections. Want your funny bone tickled?

SNL alum Rob Schneider brings his adults-only comedy to Muskegon. Want to enjoy an extra slice of Thanksgiving pie without guilt? Several communities are hosting turkey trots — and, in one case, a dash. Is music your jam? You’ll find items about orchestra performances, Christian performer Jeremy Camp, award-winning drummer Ulysses Owens Jr, and a tribute to The Doors. There’s even a U.S. flag retirement ceremony and a celebration of failures.

November offers a wide variety of things to do in Allegan, Muskegon, and Ottawa counties. This list includes options for everyone, regardless of age, ability, or interest.

Week 1 (November 1–10)
