Central Michigan Community Hospital adds new cardiac imaging technology

Cardiac patients in Mount Pleasant now have the benefit of the latest imaging technology at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

The hospital's Heart and Vascular Center announced it now has a cutting-edge Acuson echocardiography system made by Siemens, which provides a clearer and more accurate picture of the heart during scanning.

The new system can take higher quality images more quickly, which translates to shorter wait times and scanning times for patients, and also eliminates old sources of scanning errors, like small movements or high body mass.

"The advanced technology of this new system allows us to scan larger patients and patients who have difficulty holding their breath and still get a clear picture," says CMCH ultrasound technician Tina Eibling. "This allows better analysis of the heart, which can offer explanations for symptoms a patient may be experiencing."

CMCH has trained sonographers like Eibling working with the new system, and they expect it to provide more accurate heart-function assessments for doctors to work with, as part of the hospital's mission to constantly keep improving the level of care available to its patients.

Central Michigan Community Hospital is part of McLaren Health, and as a 118-bed acute care nonprofit hospital serving central Michigan.
