CMU opens office in downtown Detroit

Central Michigan University is opening a new office--in Detroit.

That's not as strange as it sounds; the new location at 777 Woodward Avenue actually is the college's seventh location in metro Detroit, but this one, right downtown, will help CMU visibility in the area.

A grand opening is planned for June 18 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. if you're in the area; it's right across from Campus Martius Park.

CMU's first presence in Detroit came nearly 40 years ago, when it established an off-campus learning center to serve Selfridge Air National Guard Base. Today, its Detroit-area offices offer distance learning, alumni opportunities, and connections to prospective students.

The CMU Detroit Office, as the new location is called, will offer up classes, career services, professional development events, prospective student and financial aid workshops, as well as alumni gatherings. It also will serve as another location for CMU'S Global Campus online education programs.
