A Saginaw solar manufacturer has announced a new partnership on the table, to insert alternative energy tech into military applications with the help of an Oregon company.
GlobalWatt manufactures solar energy systems for some specialized applications, and is adding a new application with its latest project.
Along with Silver Eagle Manufacturing Company of Portland, Oregon, GlobalWatt is integrating its existing Avanti solar system onto Silver Eagle's military trailer and transport systems, which are used by the U.S. Departments of Defense and Homeland Security.
"We are fortunate to have Silver Eagle Manufacturing as our mobile platform provider for our Avanti products," says Sanjeev Chitre, president and CEO of GlobalWatt.
The partnership will retrofit Silver Eagle trailers with solar sub-systems for the U.S. National guard and DoD. And, the two companies are planning to design and re-engineer GlobalWatt's Sun Pad products for further use with Silver Eagle's trailers.
With the two companies' expertise, solar systems for military use can be quickly made mobile and transported by a rugged, defense-qualified platform already in use.
"Silver Eagle is well-entrenched in the defense marketplace and their products meet the needs of both the National Guard and the Department of Defense. This agreement capitalizes on both companies' strengths and creates impressive business opportunities," Chitre says.
GlobalWatt is headquartered in San Jose, California, but manufactures its solar systems in Saginaw.
