New business development director joins Midland business incubator

A new business development director at the MidMichigan Innovation Center in Midland will be working to expand the center's reach across the region.

In her new role, Deb Zellner will be responsible for implementing the center's sales and marketing strategy, providing virtual tenant support, and developing a network of business incubators across Mid Michigan. The business incubator, formed in 2005, now is home to more than 30 on-site and virtual tenants and startup companies.

"This position was created to further expand the impact of the Innovation Center's programs across Michigan," says Bill Moneypenny, CEO of the center. "We selected Deb to fill this position because of her experiences growing new products and businesses at Dow Corning.  She understands the needs of entrepreneurs and brings additional insight into how best connect them with the business and technology expertise located in our region."

As a former employee of Dow Corning, Zellner has more than 30 years of global business development and commercial experience in the specialty chemicals (silicone) industry. Zellner also holds three patents.

"It's very exciting to be part of an organization that aspires to support, develop and maximize the success of entrepreneurial endeavors and start-up businesses," Zellner says. "It's wonderful to hear the ideas and see the enthusiasm of those involved in these endeavors."
