Alma College professor Robert Vivian has put the finishing touches on the world's newest trilogy and the third book in the
Tall Grass series,
Another Burning Kingdom, is available now.
The novel, which is the final in the acclaimed trilogy, focuses on Jackson, a would-be terrorist who plans to target the state capitol in Nebraska. The novel interweaves his story with his brother and sister-in-law, Lem and Lissa.
Vivian, who is a member of the English faculty at Alma, also wrote
The Mover of Bones and
Lamb Bright Saviors. All three novels are based in Nebraska, Vivian's home state, and all three follow the theme of the examination of the American underclass.
"The novels feature disenfranchised people who are living lives of desperation and resort to bizarre and questionable means to try and change that," says Vivian.
Vivian's next novel,
Water and Abandon, is set for publication in 2012. His essay book,
The Least Cricket of Evening, will be released this fall.
