Saginaw Bennigan's receives honor as family-friendly eatery

If you've ever been to Bennigan's, then you probably already know that they have quality service and tasty food.

But did you know that the location in Saginaw is also an award winner?

The Saginaw County Great Start Collaborative recently awarded the Saginaw Bennigan's location with its "Family-Friendly Business Spotlight Award."

The award recognizes Bennigan's as an eatery that welcomes families with children and for providing a kids' menu, offering field trip opportunities, money-saving coupons and even for having stepping stools in the bathroom to make using the facilities easier on children.

"It is important that we honor local businesses that truly understand the importance and value of giving children a strong start in life, and helping families to do so," says Great Start Collaborative director Julie Kozan.

Parents who volunteer with the Great Start Parent Coalition helped choose the award winner, based on experiences of parents eating at the restaurant.

The collaborative plans to select six Family-Friendly Saginaw County businesses this year, with the next expected to be announced in July. Recipients could include businesses that reach out to families as customers with special activities or promotions or those that support employees with children with benefits such as on-site daycare or flexible hours.

Anyone in the community can nominate a business for the award. Find a submission form on the Great Start Collaborative website.

Great Start is the umbrella partnership over early childhood initiatives in Saginaw County, with member agencies/programs including Birth to Five, all Saginaw County school districts, child care providers and preschools.
