Some might say that the
Catholic Federal Credit Union has made a full circle in the world of banking.
The credit union, which started in 1956, began in downtown Saginaw as St. Mary's Cathedral Federal Credit Union. Since those days, the credit union has grown and, eventually, moved away from downtown Saginaw.
That's about to change, and the credit union is coming back home thanks to plans to construct a new branch in the downtown area.
"The announcement of this move and construction marks an exciting time for everyone involved," says Alan Watson, president and CEO of Catholic Federal Credit Union. "We are very proud to be a part of the vibrant growth in this area."
The credit union is in the process of purchasing property at the corner of Washington Avenue and Holden Street where a new 3,500-square-foot office will be built. The newest location will replace the existing offices on Williamson Road.
New features at the office will include expanded space for financial services from deposits and loans, a drive-up ATM and additional drive-through lanes.
Construction is planned to begin this fall with an expected opening in June 2012.
