The stories of housing and mortgages in the mid-Michigan area have been more negative than positive in recent years, but there are bright spots, and for Saginaw home builders, the work that Mary Pitts is doing is one of them.
Pitts is a mortgage banker at
Chemical Bank's Midland Road location in Saginaw, and she has been named the Michigan Association of Home Builders Associate of the Year for 2010, for her efforts in the housing industry.
"Mary is very deserving of this honor," says Robert Rathbun, who is community bank president and a senior lender for Chemical Bank. "She is very dedicated and strives every day to do the best for her customers."
She was nominated through the Home Builders Association of Saginaw, one of many local associations across the state which sent in nominations. The association's executive committee cited her commitment and dedication to home builders in both Saginaw and Michigan, and to the building industry in general.
Pitts will be formally recognized in February, when the Michigan association has its winter board meeting.
Her impressive community and career resume show part of the reason why Pitts was nominated. She's worked for Chemical Bank since 2008, and has more than 20 years of experience in the industry. In 2004, she was honored as the Home Builders Association of Saginaw's associate of the year, and was chosen as the Women's Council member of the year in 2006.
She's also active as an ambassador and diplomat for the Saginaw Chamber of Commerce, the Spike Club, and has attended the Michigan State Ambassador Conference.
