The Center for Digital Education recently released the results of its sixth annual Digital Community Colleges Survey, grading community colleges across the country on their use of technology and websites to help educate students.
Delta College was one of just 19 colleges nationwide to get an "A" or A+" rating from the center, as its website was one of those receiving an "A" as part of the 2010 Digital Education Achievement Awards.
Community colleges are graded on how they use technology to provide services to students, educators and administrators. The survey took into account student experiences and educator effectiveness related to technology, as well as looking at tools like online registration, distance learning, and online tutoring and advisory services.
"We're very pleased to receive this award," says Dr. Jean Goodnow, president of Delta College. "The website is a collaborative effort, with administrators and content authors from around campus working to make it an outstanding tool for students and the community."
The schools receiving an "A+" rating were Catawba Valley Community College, Laramie County Community College, Montgomery County Community College, Northern Virginia Community College and Tompkins Cortland Community College.
The other schools receiving "A" ratings were Carl Sandburg College, Darton College, Hostos Community College, Houston Community College, Howard Community College, Johnson County Community College, Kingsborough Community College, Kirtland Community College, Mesabi Range Community and Technical College, Scottsdale Community College, Tidewater Community College, Virginia Western Community College and Walters State Community College.
