As graphic design becomes a global industry, it's heartening to know that a local company can still compete--and win--against designers from all over the world.
The F. P. Horak Company of Bay City, a print and graphic design firm, recently brought home two International Gallery Awards from the International Association of Printing House Craftsmen.
F.P. Horak got a gold award for a sales brochure for the Little River Casino & Resort Group, and a silver award for Northwood University's 2009 Auto Show program. Both previously won at the national level before going on to the international competition.
The entries were up against graphic design work from North America, Australia, Great Britain, China, Korea, India, Malaysia, Russia and South Africa, among many others.
"Perhaps resulting from graphic professionals embracing the global nature of the industry today, the number of astonishing entries from accomplished graphics virtuosos has increased as individuals and companies vie for world-wide recognition," says IAPHC CEO Kevin Keane about the competition.
