Holiday Inn employee in Midland is starting off the first quarter of the year right, being honored at a statewide ceremony this month for her work with its guests.
Tricia Sentz is a member of the guest service relations team at Holiday Inn in Midland, and has been chosen as the Michigan 2011 Guest Relations Star of the Year. It's one of 13 awards that will be presented March 21 at the Pure Michigan Governor's Conference on Tourism.
Although Sentz has been working at the hotel for less than a year, her hard work and attention to guests have already resulted in several internal awards, including from Suburban Inns of Grand Rapids, which owns the Holiday Inn in Midland.
"Tricia gives each and every guest the feeling that they are genuinely cared for and appreciated," says David Schroeder, general manager of the Holiday Inn. "She stops what she is doing the minute a guest is in sight and gives that individual or group of individuals her full attention. She takes the time to make everyone feel truly important."
The Guest Relations Star of the Year award goes to people and programs that encourage repeat business from guests, create goodwill among customers, or provide special services.
Schroeder says Sentz always exceeds guests' expectations, going out of her way to add a personal touch to their stay at the hotel, and that it has shown in many comments, letters and phone calls guests have made in praise of her work.
She's also made an impression with her coworkers and managers, completing her training program in half the usual time and spending time keeping up on not only hotel industry developments, but also on local news and events so that she can keep guests up-to-date on what's going on in Midland.
