Johnson Portables lends helping hand following devastation in Joplin

It's impressive what technology can do today. On one hand, it can send instant messages through thin air or send instantaneous letters to an inbox on the other side of the globe. On the other, it can build portable medical facilities, even in the wake of a natural disaster.

Johnson Portables has become an expert in the latter technological marvel and proved just what they can do when they set up a portable hospital in Joplin, Mo., for the Sisters of Mercy Health System following the violent storms and tornados that severely damaged the areas.

The deal was worth $4.7 million, according to Johnson Portables.

"The 29,000 square-foot hospital will be used for nine to 12 months while a prefabricated component hospital is erected on site to replace the St. Johns Hospital that was destroyed May 22," stated Brian Johnson, president of Johnson Portables.

The portable health facility will be assembled and functioning within six weeks, offering ICU, surgical, X-Ray, front office, pharmacy, patient room, cath lab, dialysis, MRI and CT facilities.

Johnson Portables specializes in building adaptable, durable, portable buildings that provides healthcare facilities, offices or shelter that can be deployed rapidly in a variety of emergency situations.
