Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce and the eTeam Announce ‘Genesee 10 to Watch’ and ‘Spark’ Award

More than a few up-and-coming businesses were mentioned at the Fourth Annual Jumpstart Business Conference recently.

The Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce announced the recipients of two new awards at the conference--the Genesee 10 to Watch and Spark awards.

"Over the past three years, businesses located in Genesee County and across Michigan have been challenged by a tough economy. However, despite the challenges some companies have great success stories to share about growth and job creation," says Nell Taylor of the GRCC. "We wanted to highlight these companies so other entrepreneurs can learn from their experiences, identify opportunities and maintain optimism."

The award recipients have businesses that cross many sectors that include medical/medical technology, marketing and advertising, manufacturing and green technology.

Criteria considered for the "Genesee 10 to Watch" Award included: a company must be privately held; be a commercial enterprise; be facing issues of growth; employ three to 50 full-time employees; have at least $200,000 in annual revenue or working capital; and have operations in Genesee County.

The winners for 2011 are: 3Sixty Interactive; Central Sign & Fabricating; ElectraMed Corporation; Fenton Winery and Brewery; IAM Unlimited, LLC.; INC Systems; Insight Institute of Neurosurgery & Neuroscience; Mid Michigan Solar; Residential Skirting Products, Inc; and SPACE, Inc.

Criteria reviewed for the Spark Award included: a company must be a startup that has been in business for two years or less; has a clearly identified market; and has demonstrated determination, vision and growth potential. The winners for this year are: Breathwarmers; Firecracker Marketing & Promotions; Mobiusoft, LLC; and T3 Promotions.
