Two inaugural events are coming to Midtown this weekend and there will be something for everyone. Head on over throughout the day and check these new events and programs out.

The event is free and proceeds from raffles and other items will go towards Greater Midland “Send a Kid to Camp” fund.

Midtown Movie Palooza

Midtown Movie Palooza: Marvel Movies is the first event in what is hopefully a series of free film events kicking off Saturday, April 20. The event, sponsored by the Midland Area Community Foundation and Midland Center for the Arts, will feature two Marvel films: Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.

Shown at Central Auditorium, located at 305 E. Reardon St., open at 1:00 p.m., with the first movie (Captain America) playing at 2:00 p.m.. The next film begins at 5:30 p.m., leaving about an hour between movies for a social gathering

There will be live music and artwork by Empty Canvas, an origami station supporting Public Arts Midland, as well as appearances by Spiderman and Iron Man.

Concessions will be offered by Live Oak Coffeehouse, Sunsational Smoothies, and Domino’s Pizza. Various prizes and raffles will be available. A portion of the profits from sponsors and 50/50 ticket sales will go to the Greater Midland “Send a Kid to Camp” fund, helping cover summer camp costs for local youth.

The first Midtown Movie Palooza will be April 20 with two separate Marvel movies.

“We’re excited to host our first Movie Palooza,” said event organizer Adam Salgat. “We expect to welcome a lot of families looking for something fun to do over the holiday weekend. It’s a beautiful theater that many people just don’t get a chance to enjoy.”

A portion of the profits from sponsors and 50/50 ticket sales will go to the Greater Midland “Send a Kid to Camp” fund, helping cover summer camp costs for local youth.

The first Midtown Artist Market will be at The Ashman Plaza on April 20.

Midtown Artist Market

You can also kick off the spring season by checking out the first annual Midtown Artist Market at The Ashman Loft.

The market runs Saturday, April 20 from 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. with the mission to sustain a platform for creatives to thrive and express themselves while connecting makers, artist and crafters to a supportive fan base in our community.

At least 18 different artists and makers will be in attendance for an inclusive, vivacious event celebrating local talents and artists. You can see the types of artists that will be in attendance on Nectar & None's Facebook page.

Admission is $2 with kids 12 and under admitted for free. Proceeds from ticket sales will go towards funding the Public Arts Project, an organization that focuses on the impact of public art and increasing exposure throughout Midland and supporting the revitalization of Grove Park in Midtown.

The Artist Market event will feature raffles, events, an egg hunt with almost 300 eggs hidden throughout the market space and more. Bring your own basket to hopefully pick up a treasure or two.
