New grant brings modern equipment to Humane Society of Midland County

The Humane Society of Midland County has completed major upgrades to its on-site veterinary clinic with the help of a $9,958 grant from the Hemlock Semiconductor Community and Regional Empowerment (CARE) Fund. The Midland Area Community Foundation manages the CARE Fund and other grant programs that support community improvement projects throughout the region.

The funding allowed the shelter to purchase and install new veterinary equipment and infrastructure, including an anesthesia machine, autoclave, oxygen concentrator, updated lighting, countertops, and cabinets.

These upgrades enhance the clinic’s ability to provide safe, efficient, and compassionate medical care to animals, while also expanding opportunities for community education and affordable veterinary services.

Raquel Ledesma Pérez, diversity and community liaison for Hemlock Semiconductor, says the grant reflects a shared commitment to strengthening both animal and human health.

“HSC’s Community and Regional Empowerment Fund Committee is proud to support the Humane Society in advancing their vision to champion health and wellness for both people and pets,” Pérez says. “This support reflects our mutual commitment to values such as teamwork, responsibility, excellence, and customer focus.”

Jesse Fletcher, executive director of the Humane Society of Midland County, says the investment is already transforming the shelter’s services.

“The new veterinary equipment allows us to not only provide a higher standard of care for the animals who come through our doors, but also to serve our community in new and more efficient ways,” Fletcher says.

“We are grateful to Hemlock Semiconductor, the CARE Fund, and the Midland Area Community Foundation for investing in the future of animal welfare in Midland County and beyond.”
