Historic highways may move under purview of Pure Michigan

Northwest Michigan has no shortage of scenic drives, but some of them might have different names soon, if they are rebranded under the umbrella of the Pure Michigan campaign.

Michigan has been designating historic or aesthetic highways since 1993 for its Michigan Heritage Route Program. The state then adopts a less invasive maintenance plan to preserve the route without disturbing its attraction.
