Traverse City may be a Michigan and Midwest vacation staple, but it got a little more national attention recently, landing on Smithsonian Magazine's list of places to visit this year.

The northern Michigan city has made Smithsonian's list of Top 20 best small towns in the U.S. to visit in 2015. Traverse City came in fourth on the list topped by Estes Park, Colorado; Nantucket, Massachusetts; and Stuart, Florida, respectively.
