Teacher bikes around outline of state

A Monroe teacher spent time this summer biking around the coastline of lower Michigan, including a trip through northwest Michigan, and told his story here.

Excerpt: Beginning on Aug. 2, Scully traveled an average of 103 miles a day as he made his way from Monroe, along the eastern edge of Lake Huron, across to Mackinaw, then to Traverse City, and down through South Haven before coming back two weeks later.

"It wasn't one of those things where I planned it for six months or a year," Scully laughed. "It was my Forrest Gump moment you could say."
