BCU board names Joe Sobieralski as Interim President  & CEO

Joe Sobieralski has been named Interim President and CEO of Battle Creek Unlimited (BCU). Sobieralski joined BCU in December of 2015, as Vice President.

“Appointing Joe will allow for a seamless transition as we (the Board of Directors) start the search process for a permanent President and CEO, says John Gallagher, BCU Board Chair. 

Gallagher goes on to says: “With Joe’s past experience, strong leadership qualities, and proven relationship building skills, which he has already demonstrated since his arrival at BCU, we are confident BCU is in good hands." 

Sobieralski will work with the current staff of BCU in partnership with the City of Battle Creek to Battle Creek as a premier location for companies and their employees. 

No timeline has been established for the appointment of a new President and CEO.
 
Sobieralski's past economic development experience includes leadership positions with a variety of organizations as a past Executive Director and City Manager.  Sobieralski also has worked in Southwest Michigan to build public and private sector partnerships. 

Sobieralski earned a BA in Public Administration from Michigan State University and an MPA from Western Michigan University with a Local Government concentration. Sobieralski also earned credits in the leading industry designation for economic developers: Community Economic Development Certification (CEcD). 
 
Battle Creek Unlimited is a private, non-profit corporation which serves as the economic development organization for the City of Battle Creek.
