Adams Outdoor donates five pieces of property to Land Bank

Five pieces of property formerly owned by Adams Outdoor Advertising have been donated to the Kalamazoo County Land Bank.

 

Adams Outdoor donated properties include:

 

•  0.15 acre at 1527 East Michigan Ave., near a redevelopment effort by the Land Bank supported by local residents and the Eastside Neighborhood Association. The location will complement a community gardening initiative already in place on five adjacent parcels.

 

•  0.21 acre at 1001 West Paterson St.;

 

• 0.21 acre at 1434 East Michigan Ave.;

 

• 0.12 acre at 135 East Paterson St.; and,

 

• 0.03 acre at 1613 North Burdick St.

 

Together the parcels have a total assessed value of $ $69,600.

"We’re in the business of repurposing property in a way that complements and enhances community efforts and assets to support a vibrant and thriving Kalamazoo. Strategic property donations like this go a long way in helping us to further our mission."

 

The donation is one of several local philanthropic initiatives by Adams Outdoor, which has been in business in Kalamazoo for 30 years. 

 

"When Adams decided to donate these parcels, working with the Land Bank was an easy decision," says Jeannine Dodson, general manager of Adams Outdoor Advertising. "We’re pleased to aid the great work of the Land Bank in returning donated property to good use in our community."

 

The outdoor advertising firm provides about $800,000 annually in billboard space to local nonprofits, plus an additional $1.5 million in Ad Council and other public service advertising. Adams Outdoor and its employees also actively support United Way and volunteer with many local service organizations.
