High quality audio and video equipment is Kazoo Audio's business

Listening to live music on a trip to Nashville convinced John Ferry it was time to get back into the business he had left nearly four years ago when his employer closed its doors, the business in which he spent 35 years and the one that satisfies his passion for deailing with quality audio equipment and selling it to people for whom music matters. 

 

The day after Christmas 2012, Kazoo Audio opened its doors in Portage at 6772 S. Westnedge Ave. in the Carillon Centre. The store of about 1,800 square feet employs four full-time and two part-time employees. 

 

Each of the full-time employees worked with Ferry at Classic Stereo, a longtime area retailer. Former customers of Classic Stereo are starting to find the new store and it will be working to spread the word to those who never shopped there. Many of the store's clientele are repeat customers or are brought in by word of mouth, Ferry says. 

 

The store not only offers audio and video gear but its trained technicians can help with installations, service on existing systems, advice on new purchases or on ways to resurrect old equipment. The staff even has experience installing a high fidelity sound system in the stables of an area farm, a project that grew out of the owner's desire to provide music for himself and his staff in the barn after the successful upgrade of a home entertainment system. The store also offers high quality video products. 

 

Among the products found at Kazoo Audio are premium speakers from Klipsch Group Inc., Magnepan Inc. and Paradigm Electronics Inc. Audio brands the store carries include Anthem Electronics Inc., Denon Electronics, and Rega. Turntables from VPI, Traveler and Pioneer Elite, which also makes Elite TV can be found in the store.
