In November 500 people came together for Kalamazoo's Largest Networking Event. By popular demand the event will be happening again.
This time, the Kalamazoo Regional Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the original hosts,
Greenleaf Hospitality Group, specifically Derrick Ricca and Sarah Lee, for a networking event that gives Kalamazoo professionals a unique opportunity to connect.
So far, more than 100 people already have registered for
the April 24 event at the Radisson downtown. Organizers say the typical business networking event in the area usually averages at 25 to 60 business professionals.
The networking event will integrate of social media and face-to-face introductions. There will be a list of LinkedIn users who check-in using a LinkLiveNow link that is only live at the day of event. As they follow the link, names will appear on a screen and attendees can see who else is in the room that evening, creating a conversation starter and a way for individuals to break the ice.
Volunteers also will help attendees meet other business professionals in the room.
"Sometimes breaking the ice is a challenge for most business professionals in a networking event and often they push a business card before they even start a conversation about what your business interests are, or even learning more about the individual's business," says organizer Sarah Lee. "So we have created an environment that is comfortable for participants, and, of course, nametags to get you started with your initial introductions."
The evening will also feature door prizes, appetizers, and a cash bar.
Kalamazoo's Largest Networking Event comes on the heels of a week of social media events sponsored during
Kalamazoo Social Media Week April 14-18. The week starts out at Klassic Arcade in Gobles, takes in a behind the scene tour at the State Theater in downtown Kalamazoo, includes socializing at the Kalamazoo Beer Exchange, lunch with four food trucks, a visit to the KIA, an exclusive tour of Bells, the Social Media Awards and a tweetup with mixologist Angie Jackson at Old Dog Tavern.
