New salon is dream come true for owners in Niles

Jaclyn Camp was a hair stylist for four years and Ronda Accoe for nine years before they made their dreams come true by opening their own salon in Niles last month.

"It had always been a dream of both of ours to do this," Camp says. "We were ready to branch out on our own."

Camp says the pair had worked together in three salons before opening Vixen Hair Studio at 1221 S. 11th St., Suite 105 in July. When the salon closed where they most recently worked together, they decided it was time.

"You know when you know," Camp says. "We thought it was time. We both have a full clientele and have been successful the past couple of years. We thought, we’ll try it and see what happens."

Camp and Accoe are currently seeking one more stylist to join them in order to be able to accommodate walk-in customers. Currently they must limit their customers to those with scheduled appointments.

They offer haircuts for men and women, facial waxing, coloring, highlights, perms and prom and bridal updos.

"Right now, we only have room for one," Camp says. "Eventually we’d like to get up to three or four."

The duo knew they wanted to keep their salon in the area but looked at many locations before finding the right one.

"For us, this felt like home," Camp says. "It felt perfect. It’s a good-sized building. We just knew. It’s been great. Our neighbors in the plaza are fantastic and have welcomed us in. It’s gone very well."
