Post Foods to spend $30 million on Battle Creek expansion

An investment of $30 million by Post Foods at its Battle Creek facility will bring 92 jobs to the city, company officials says.

Post Foods plans to consolidate its manufacturing headquarters, relocate key leadership in Battle Creek, and close a facility in Modesto, Calif.

The 92 new jobs will be added at Post's Cliff Street manufacturing facility. The expansion will involve the addition of equipment and a limited amount of construction to the existing building.

Steve Schonhoff, V.P. of Operations for Post Foods says the company sees many opportunities for the Battle Creek from the expansion.  "The support provided by Battle Creek Unlimited and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation was key to our decision to consolidate our manufacturing into Battle Creek,”  Schonhoff says.

The announcement comes on the heels of Post's decision to bring at least 15 leadership level employees to Battle Creek. Those moves have taken place over the past six months. Post Foods, formerly owned by Ralcorp, became an independently traded company in 2012. When the announcement came that Ralcorp was spinning off Post Foods, Battle Creek Unlimited began discussion of its ultimately successful plan for moving leadership to the area.
