Teenage entrepreneur Daniel Brusilovsky to visit Kalamazoo

Teenage entrepreneur Daniel Brusilovsky, founder of Teens in Tech, believes there is no set age at which one is qualified to become an entrepreneur. After all, as a teenager, he has already built and sold an online company for seven figures.

Brusliovsky will be in Kalamazoo next week to discuss his experiences. His current venture, Teens in Tech, provides tools and resources to young entrepreneurs world-wide to help encourage entrepreneurship at a young age.

"Through our ventures, we’re able to help young entrepreneurs create innovative and disruptive businesses," Brusliovsky says.

He also was one of the founding team of Qik, which was subsequently acquired by Skype. He worked at TechCrunch, Apture, and JESS3, consulted to atebits on the launch of Tweetie for Mac and he serves on an advisory panel to  AT&T.

His visit comes about through the efforts of those working to build an inviting environment for entrepreneurs in Southwest Michigan.

A year ago Chuck Perricone sponsored fact-finding visits to Palo Alto, Calif., to connect select local officials with the culture and opportunities young tech entrepreneurs were creating in Silicon Valley.

On one of those visits they met Brusilovsky, the creator of a teen bootcamp for budding young entrepreneurs and someone in demand in major national and international cities who want him to build programs for their young people.

"When I met Daniel, I asked him the obvious question: 'Rather than take your program overseas, why not Michigan?'" Perricone says. "After he asked me, 'What's a Kalamazoo?’ I explained the Kalamazoo Promise. He was instantly hooked, telling me, 'now that is how we should be educating!'"

Brusliovsky will meet with local officials during his visit. He also will address local entrepreneurs and others at a 6:30 p.m. gathering of StartupZoo Aug. 22 at Creekside Business Center in Portage, Mich. His visit is free and open to the public.
