B.C. Enquirer: Volunteer help need for new community farm

A volunteer day is planned to clean up two acres of land that will become a new community farm within the city limits on Battle Creek’s north side, reports the Battle Creek Enquirer. People are being asked to come to 245 N. Kendall St. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 14 to remove brush, trim trees and prepare the land for roto-tilling, said Jeremy Andrews, director of the nonprofit Sprout Urban Farms. The property, a vacant lot for several years, now is being called Bright Star Farm, and in time will include a produce garden, an orchard, hoophouses and a barn.
