Three must-follow Instagram accounts documenting life in the Blue Water Area

These are some of the must-follow Instagram accounts from throughout the Blue Water Area, documenting the simple pleasures of daily life, spectacular views, and defining characteristics found here on the Thumb Coast. There are, of course, plenty more out there. Got a recommendation for a page worth following? Send us a message on Instagram at @TheKeelPortHuron and we’ll check it out.

PoHo
@pohomichigan

With more than 10,400 followers, PoHo is by far the biggest Port Huron-themed account we’ve come across. The page curates photos taken throughout the region, pulling from everyday people and professional photographers alike. That’s one of the beauties of Instagram: A beautiful photo is a beautiful photo, no matter who snapped it. PoHo has grown so popular that they started an online store, selling Port Huron-themed apparel and accessories, further proof that there’s no shortage of community pride here.

Cap’n Jim’s Gallery
@capnjimsgallery

Cap’n Jim’s Gallery in St. Clair celebrates the life and work of artist James Clary, who sadly passed away in 2018. The gallery’s Instagram keeps Clary’s love of the Blue Water Area alive, and especially its waterways and the boats, ships, and freighters that are one of the region’s most distinctive traits. Fans of laker culture will especially love their videos of the slow-moving freighters that traverse the Great Lakes daily.
