Real estate watch: 5 Port Huron homes for less than $100K

It’s that time again. The time when we take a look around our fair city and see what’s on the market, daydreaming about that pretty house down the block.

Here's a look at some of our favorite houses on the market today, and all below that $100,000 mark.

This affordable home offers a lot of charm.
902 Ontario Street: $99,500

It’s hard enough to find a restored Victorian home on the market, let alone one for below $100,000. But that’s just what’s happening over on Ontario Street where this historic house is listed at $99,500. Built in 1901, this home is loaded with unique characteristics, like its vintage light fixtures and heat registers, artisan wainscoting, and the original chandelier. For all its old world charm, it should be pointed out that this home is a 21st century home with its new roof, duct work, and high efficiency furnace.

This home is still looking for the right owner, and now offers a much lower price tag.
1403 Washington Avenue: $73,500

Price drop alert! We last wrote about this house in April and it’s since dropped from a $90,000 price tag to $73,500. That’s a whopping $16,500 cut! We still like this sky blue charmer, though, and it’s an even better deal today. Updated kitchen and bath. Newer windows. Two year old roof. And you can walk downtown or to the river. What’s not to like? The only thing missing from this listing is more pictures. Maybe that’s why it’s still on the market.

This Colonial style home is just waiting for a new owner.
1702 10th Avenue: $99,000

Now this house has style. With colonial flair, this 1922-built home features a gas fireplace, hardwood floors, and a finished attic space. As if the inside wasn’t cool enough already, the outside features not one but two decks: One on the first floor and one on the second. Summers in Port Huron are already pretty great, but imagine reading a book in the sun on a balcony deck. Sign us up.

This Sixth Street home is available for less than $100,000.
1611 6th Street: $97,900

This colonial-style home on 6th Street appears to be the opposite of a fixer-upper. Even the landscaping is maintained to a T. If you can manage to pry yourself from its enclosed porch in the front and sun room in the back, this 1917-built home is walking distance from the Atrium Café & Ice Cream Parlor, the Original Buscemi’s, and the Hock Shop & Sporting Center. The latter being especially convenient, seeing as how this home is just a block from the riverfront.

This home is close to downtown Port Huron and has a lot of character.
1021 Bancroft Street: $89,900

This uniquely shaped home was built in 1913 and has been reaching high ever since. While we wouldn’t want to be the ones working on that steep-pitched roof, it does offer some rooms with character. Located south of downtown, you can walk to Wetlands County Park from here, and if you’re a musician, Hanson Pro Music isn’t too far, either.
