Where to stay cool during the summer in St. Clair County

Summer has started, and the weather is already showing it. Here are some spots across St. Clair County to help you stay cool during the heat of the summer.

Goodell’s County Park
8345 County Park Dr., Goodells

Pavilions, a farm museum, trails with shade, and a splashpad, this popular summer spot has plenty of activities that will keep you cool, whether you want to enjoy it in the sun or hide away from it.

The park is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., with the splashpad open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Lakeside Park
3670 Gratiot Ave., Port Huron

Enjoy the splash pad open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. or head to the beach to feel the refreshing waters of Lake Huron. But be aware, there are no lifeguards on duty, so swim at your own risk.

The park also has a playground, public bathrooms, grills, and a concession stand in case you need a quick snack break.

St. Clair Pool
715 Orchard St., St Clair

For those who aren’t fans of the beach or splash pads, the St. Clair pool offers open swim to the public Monday through Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Admission to the pool costs $2, and children under four are free.

The pool also offers swim courses; folks interested can call the pool at 810-329-5279.

Lakeport State Park
7605 Lakeshore Rd., Lakeport

This spot offers a little bit of a different experience with camping sites for tents, RVs, and cabins located at the very top of St. Clair County. Right on the waters of Lake Huron, the beach area also offers a play area for little ones.

Folks will need a recreation passport before entering, which can be purchased here

Marine City Beach
102 Pearl St., Marine City

Just like your typical visit to the beach, Marine City offers a beautiful view of the water and offers public bathrooms, barbecue grills, picnic tables, and areas to view the freighters passing by.

The beach is also within walking distance of downtown, with restaurants like Marine City Fish Company and businesses like The Sweet Tooth.

Enjoy the summer!
