A new marketing company is making a name for itself over in Ishpeming.
F5 Marketing Systems, owned by Burton Clement, has a pretty interesting history so far.
Started when four founding members with backgrounds in business and marketing got together to talk about starting their own marketing company, F5 began by representing some local products and brands on the national scene, such as KoozieLight and Fighting Connection, in the spring of 2011.
"We were constantly hearing how the state of the economy was having a detrimental effect on our local community. We knew that we had the ability to really help our local treasures make some small changes in what they were doing, add in some new marketing techniques, and really start to maximize their potential," says Clement.
Some professional contacts in the sports celebrity world led to F5 representing newly-retired boxer Lamon Brewster and professional boxer James "Lights Out" Toney. But the agency isn't leaving the U.P. for a more star-studded location anytime soon; it's accepting new small business, entrepreneur, organization, corporation and celebrity clients.
F5 is broken into five divisions, focusing on social media, local marketing, mobile marketing, web marketing and branding. It currently employs the four founders, but partners and freelancers chime in on different projects depending what they are needed for. And, that number is planned to go up soon, as F5 plans to expand this spring, and will be seeking new representatives in the U.P., across the U.S., and by the end of the year, worldwide.
In the meantime, the company is offering free webinars to local small businesses on several topics, like cross-platform marketing, Facebook marketing, social media, mobile marketing, email and video marketing, and search engine optimization.
