Lake Superior Photo opens gallery in Marquette

We here at Upper Peninsula Second Wave have always felt that we are lucky to have a photographer with the skills of Shawn Malone on the staff.

She brings with her an eye for detail and a way of capturing stunning photos, especially when shooting the great outdoors here in God's Country.

Malone recently decided to make her work more widely available, so she has opened up a Lake Superior Photo gallery and studio in Downtown Marquette.

"It will be a gallery of my photography and I will be building out a studio for portrait, product, pet, and other photography," she says. "I will also have a workshop space for a developing offering of workshops, starting with basic photography concepts to more specialized offerings like night sky photography."

Lake Superior Photo's new location is at 211 S. Front St. and Malone said that the best hours to stop by will be 10 a.m. through 5 p.m.

"I don't know if we will ever have normal hours, but I will most likely always be here as I have moved my office to this location," she says. "So for now, when the door is open, we're open."

Malone has been waiting years for the right potential gallery space to open up and when the Front Street location became available, she moved on it.

"This place has over 17-foot-high walls and is 80-feet deep, so there will be lots of flexibility with studio lighting and backdrops."
