Marquette General honored nationally as one of the 2011 best and brightest companies

Marquette General Health System made the national list of  Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in 2011, after previously making the regional Michigan list.

The list is made by the National Association for Business Resources, and MGHS has landed on the West Michigan list of best places to work in 2010 and 2011 previously from the association. This listing just puts the hospital system a cut above, ranking with the country's best workplaces.

To win, companies were evaluated in several categories, including communication community initiatives, compensation and benefits, diversity and multiculturalism, employee education and development, employee engagement and commitment, recognition and retention, recruitment and selection, and work-life balance.

The association determines the rankings through analyzing best practices in human resources and employment, and creating benchmarks that companies must meet in order to qualify as leaders on the list.

Gary Muller, president and CEO of MGHS and Superior Health Partnership, says the award comes down to the employees.

"We recognize that our employees are the heart of our organization and the drivers behind our success," says Muller. "Being selected nationally as a Best and Brightest company validates our commitment to our employees who have stood strong and worked hard through the changes our organization made over the past several years. The overall success of our organization can be attributed to their hard work and dedication."

MGHS will be featured in the January online edition of Corp! Magazine, along with the other companies that made the national list. An awards symposium and gala also will honor the winners.
