History buffs love the Keweenaw Peninsula. Not only are there some really cool things to go up there and see, but there is a ton of history that has made its way to various parts of the country, too, as our friends at Copper Country Explorer recently noted.
Excerpt: The above photo is of the Prairie Dog Central Railroad – a tourist train hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba. The train makes daily runs between Winnipeg and the rural town of Warren some 17 miles away. Its claim to fame is its impressive collection of turn of the century equipment including a steam locomotive and several vintage coaches – all restored to their original glory. One of those coaches may be of a particular interest to readers of CCE, considering it once rode the rails between Calumet and Mandan right here in the Keweenaw.
